i have some questions...i was wondering if it is possible to put audio effects on a voice over, to make it sound like one of those really old voice overs from the 60's-70's (you know, the old guy who narrated cheesy sci-fi movies or animal documentaries)
or if there's anything that might help to make the voice over sound more deep and mature. i'm using final cut pro 4. also, are there any video effects to make video look more like film, and i'm talking about the actual video, not programs that add scratches or dust or whatever, just make the color of video more bright and old school film like. any help welcome. thanks

there have been countless topics on making video look like film, one just the other day. Go look for it.

As for vioce overs, you can certainly change the pitch and generally mess around with the EQ and stuff but i dont think theres going to be magic way to make you sound like an old cheesy sci fi guy (and frankly i dont even know what that sounds like). The best thing i can suggest is you ask someone in thier 30s or 40s with a deep sounding vioce to record what you want.

HAHAA! I imagine him thinking there's a computer-program out there to make someone who sounds like Gilbert Godfreid magically sound like Rod Serling.

It's probably in KHz -- an older recording would, I presume, have a much narrower bandwidth - a bit like a telephone voice.

If you are looking to record the voice so it sounds like a telephone call, use an old pair of headphones as your mic, the quality will be awful, but should sound like someone speaking over a telephone (I.e. the person not on cam...)

Add some crackle samples.. reduce the bitrate to about 64kbps and speak in a stupid voice! voila
